Medical Herbalism and Acupuncture

Q: What is Acupuncture?

A: Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific points shown as effective in the treatment of specific health problems. These points have been mapped by the Chinese over a period of two thousand years. Recently, electromagnetic research has confirmed their locations.

Q: What problems can be treated by Acupuncture?

A: The World Health Organization has said that Acupuncture is suitable for treating the following:

1) EAR, NOSE, AND THROAT DISORDERS Toothaches, pain after tooth extractions, earaches, sinus inflammations, nasal inflammation or dryness.

2) RESPIRATORY DISORDERS Uncomplicated bronchial asthma in children or adults.

3) GASTROINTESTINAL DISORDERS Digestive tract problems, hiccups, inflammation of the stomach, chronic duodenal ulcers, inflammation of the colon, constipation, diarrhea, dysentery caused by certain bacteria.

4) EYE DISORDERS NERVOUS SYSTEM AND MUSCULAR DISORDERS Headaches, migraines, certain facial paralysis or nerve pain, partial weakness after a stroke inflammation of nerve endings, bed wetting, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sciatica, low back pain, and osteoarthritis. Acupuncture has been used for centuries in China to treat many other problems, such as knee pain, sprains, and strains, and most gynecological complaints.


Q: What is Herbal Medicine good for?

A: Herbal Medicine treats the full range of human disease. It is used to treat: .Acute diseases like intestinal flu and the common cold .Chronic diseases, such as allergies, gynecological disorders, autoimmune diseases, and chronic viral diseases .Degenerative diseases due to aging

Q: Do Herbs have side effects?

A: Most of the components of herbs have a very low toxicity compared to even common over-the-counter drugs. Dr. Jace uses almost all organic herbs and never ones that would be considered poisonous. You should have few, if any, side effects, only beneficial healing results.

Q: Who is trained in Medical Herbalism?

A: Although Herbal Medicines are safe when prescribed by a knowledgeable Herbalist, they are strong medicines. By their license, Acupuncturists are the only practitioner state licensed to prescribe herbs. If your practitioner is not a Licensed Acupuncturist, ask about his training and experience. Many practitioners use herbal medicine in their practice with little or no training.
